On December 2nd, 2025, the86th Zhi Xin Forum was held in Lecture Hall 117 at the Zhi Xin Building, which was jointly organized by the College of Electronic and Information Engineering and Shanghai Institute of Intelligent Science and Technology of Tongji University. Prof. Jordán Pascual Espada fromUniversity of Oviedo, Spain, was invited to give a lecture on “A very Basic and Accessible Introduction to the Basis of LLMs”.
In this report, Professor Jordán explained the fundamental principles and core operating mechanisms of Large Language Models (LLMs) in a clear and concise manner. The report mainly introduced the basic knowledge about LLMs that are easy to master, and details the key principles of artificial intelligence systems.Heshared practical tips for deploying and running models locally, helping attending teachers and students understand the underlying architecture and behavioral patterns of modern AI models. In addition, Professor Jordán also highlighted the concept of AI Agents and demonstrated how to quickly create and configure these agents using a no code platform. These intelligent agents demonstrate strong automation potential and can seamlessly integrate into daily tasks and business processes.
After thereport, Prof.Jordánhad a cordial exchange and discussion with the participating teachers and students, and he also encouraged them to actively broaden their horizons, explore, discover and solve new scientific problems based on his own experience. Thisreportfurther expanded the vision of our teachers and students and enhanced their understanding andknowledgeofLLMs.
